You may have seen Rihanna lately with her new red hair and it sounds like she is loving it. She explained recently why she made the change:

Redheads have the most fun! And redheads have the most work too, I get bored quickly, but right now I’m loving my hair. Red suits my mood right now, it’s fun, playful and flirty. But I can’t wear white anymore, and my god, my pillows! I wake up thinking, ‘What The Hell? Who’s died in here?

Her new Album Loud will be released on November 15th, so check it out!

Apparently a sex study i must have overlooked has found that while Blonds may have more fun, redheads have way more sex according to research done in Germany. Professor Dr Werner Habermehl looked at the sex lives of thousands of German woman and correlated the results with their hair color.

Sexy Redheads get more Sex

He found that women with red hair were clearly more sexually active then those with other colors having more partners and more sex more often then the average, I guess the caricature of the fiery redhead certainly lives up to her reputation. He also found that women who changed their hair color to red were often trying to subconsciously signal that they are looking for a new partner. A psychologist involved in the study however stated another reason why redheads have exciting sex lives:

Red stands for passion and when a man sees a redhead he will think he is dealing with a woman who won’t mess around, and gets straight to the point when it comes to sex.

An African American woman who is part of the Pennsylvania Police force has filed a complaint with the Human Relations Commission due to an order handed down which said her hair color is not allowed. Her captain had ordered her to change her hair color which he claims is purple while she maintains that it is red. She had been sent home on a number of different occasions when she refused to back down and change her hair color. Once again the man is trying to discriminate against gingers. But this woman is willing to fight back! She may not be pasty faced, but if you got red hair you should be able to keep it!

Apparently there is a police rule on the books which states that unusual or unnatural hair colors like blue and green are banned from the department, but i would hardly count red hair as as unnatural. There are tens of millions of us in the US alone! She feels that her rights were discriminated against and will not back down in her cause. So we should all give her a round of applause! Apparently the Police force in Pennsylvania has a thing against hair as there is another complaint still under review after an officer would not agree to cut out his cornrows.

Have you ever wanted to get that natural red hair look without putting all of the potentially toxic and damaging chemicals? Try this home made recipe that is chemical free and easy on your wallet. Follow these seven steps and you can have that great red hair look. Your going to need a few items that you can pick up at any grocery store:

  • Rose hip or clove tea or black coffee
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • A Shower

This will work best on lighter colored hair, but even darker ones will work if you leave the product in for a little longer. Here are the instructions

  1. Brew the clove or rose hip tea, if you decide to use black coffee make sure it is a strong brew.
  2. Let the brew cool completely before use, you do not want to put boiling hot coffee on your head!
  3. Shampoo the hair to clean off any oils or grime and rinse well.
  4. Pour the mixture onto your hair, it is best to make sure the liquid does not land on any tile or shower curtains as it will leave a stain. Try and re-capture as much as the liquid as possible using a metal bowl. This method does not have the consistancy of regular hair dyes and will run through the hair quickly. Repeat this 10-15 times.
  5. Let the mixture sit in your hair for 20 minutes.
  6. Wash the mixture out thoroughly and then add conditioner and style your hair as normal.

Enjoy your beautiful all natural red hair!!

As you all may know, people have been saying for years that gingers are on their way out. Anne Lindsay is an artist from Seattle, Washington knows otherwise and has been taking photographis of every red head she can find for her upcoming book “Redheads and More Redheads”. She will feature photos and personal stories of people with any shade of red (so long as it is natural of course) from strawberry blong to auburn.

There are a lot of myths and folklore associated with this vibrant hue.

Lindsay has heard some strange stories in the process such as how we were once considered witches and burned at the stake. So far she has cataloged more then 65 people for her book but she is looking for more. She wants to feature 200 gingers in her new book and is calling on all redheads from around the world of any age or nationality to visit her website at annelindsayphotography.com and take part! She is paticularly interested in ethnicities that rarely have red hair such as African Americans, Greeks and Indians.

On May 14th she plans to host a redhead gathering which will include a slide show, photo exhibit and discussion about redheads as well as a talk on how to pursue ideas for books. Help this gal out and let her know your story!
